aspect ratio and format frustration
I have FCP 7 and have a video that is 1920×1080 Apple Pro Res 422 LT. I need to provide the client with a final file that is 300×250 FLV for display on the client’s website. The video is just a single camera shot, head-on, of a person sitting at a TV desk – so cropping shouldn’t be a problem, we won’t lose anything important. But I can’t figure out how to get the final size that I want, let alone how to get a Flash file (I have Flash installed on another computer – a PC.) What should my workflow be? Thanks in advance.

1920×1080 is 16×9 (1920/16 = 1080/9).
300×250 is not 16×9.The movie and the website window have different aspect ratio so if you want to display the movie there without distortion you need to crop the picture (left and right) or add black bars on the top and the bottom.
You need o adjust those settings in the Geometry tab in Compressor.
Cropping or padding (if you want to add black bars).
You want a 6×5 movie (300×250) so you should crop the master to 1296×1080 (6×5).
Crop left 320 and right 320.
Then set frame size 300×250 and Pixels aspect: SQUARED.
