  • Aspect of text changed after export

Posted by Dan Smudla on March 18, 2008 at 10:26 am

I added an outline text to sequence and in Final Cut preview everything seemed to be OK. But after exporting aspect of the text changed.
Here is original view in Final Cut and
here is how it looks in exported movie.

    Any advices? Thanx.

Whenever you export via QuickTime, you will get the movie un-squeezed as that is the native format of anamorphic 16:9 video.

You’ll have to open the movie in QuickTime and go to the movie properties for video (CMD J in QT). Once there, uncheck Constrain Aspect Ratio and set the proper frame size for your format (you never said what your format was).

This is a very common issue. You may want to use Compressor next time. With the proper Compressor setting for 16:9, you can avoid this problem.

Thanx for your helpfulness but that is not exactly what I tried to explain. Not that aspect of movie changed but just aspect of text /or titles/ which I have added to the movie in Final cut /see pictures in original message/. Thank you anyway.

    HI,

Are you working in SD and dealing with anamorphic (non square) media. If so, check the properties of the sequence clips on the layers below the text.

Is the anamorphic flag OFF. If so turn it on and try the export.

Please let me know if this solves your problem. We get the same occurring occasionally when working in PAL SD 16:9 and we are trying to replicate it for Apple.
