  • Artifacting in text of MPEG4 exports from Compressor

I am experiencing a pulsating artifact in Compressor MPEG4 exports of self-contained movies. The artifacting is especially noticable in stills with text – the more text the worse the pulsating.
It looks like ringing, but is not constant. It tends to muddy up the background picture near the text. I am exporting SD from FCP 6.0.6. What am I missing in the workflow that causes this?

    That’s compression.
    You Can:

Compress at a higher bit rate.
Start with a higher res image/video.
    Use thicker less texts.

    You can also try:
Change the compressor settings in the FCP sequence to Prores 422 or 8 bit uncompressed and re-render fully before exporting to compressor.
