I want to apply an art brush to line-art, but i’m having a problem where the brush doesn’t give a consistent look when applied to long and short paths. In the image below, i have a circle with tick marks. The circle has a nice textured look, but the tick marks are really jaggedy, and don’t look natural. This is because it’s compressing the entire brush into the length of this short path. I want the tick marks to look the same as the circle. I could do a work around and make different art brushes for long paths, longer paths, medium length paths, shorter paths etc etc. but making these paths and then selecting and applying them to my artwork would take forever (the line-art i eventually intend to use is much more complicated). Is there any sort of brush property that will somehow maintain the proportions of the stroke and simply trim it to the length of the path?

Can you edit the brush that you are using? Just double click on the brush and tick the proportional check box.

however, it will make short brushes look smaller than longer ones.

    Well, hope this helps…
