arrow not showing
Posted by Marcel Tiemensma on May 12, 2008 at 6:21 pmI insert an arrow (shapes) and it’s shown in the timeline, but in the image is not appearing in the main window; only the x-y axes. I inserted shapes before and they were and are still visible. What am I doing wrong?

May 13, 2008 at 3:20 ameve typed text doesn’t show up (even when I reset colourtext etc). In other projects (like templates everything is going fine), but in my recent project, nothing what I do shows up in the canvas. It must be a wrong setting, but I cannot figure it out. Please help!?

I have had very similar experiences with the rectangle tool. In the timeline or project pane click on something (layer) in your canvas that is working properly and check out its X, Y AND Z properties. Then click on the Shape that is not working and see what the X, Y and Z properties are. Make them the same and then you should see your shape…then re-adjust it’s position to taste. Hope this helps.Stephen Smith

May 13, 2008 at 5:48 pmwow!! i cannot believe it. this is working…i would never have found this trick.
But exactly what is wrong….is it a Motion-bug?
Also when I type text (in the shape), it cannot be seen….only when I choose blend mode > darken for instance. But when blend mode is normal no text is visible.
How come?
thanks for the help! -

May 13, 2008 at 7:03 pmIt’s not a bug. When you hit the apply button it places the arrow at X=0, Y=0 and Z = 0. If you drag the arrow from the library to your timeline it will be whatever your X, Y and Z is. That’s the same for clips as well.

May 13, 2008 at 8:36 pmBy the way, on the text…make sure it’s z distance is one point closer to the camera and not the same z distance as the shape that is covering it up.

May 13, 2008 at 9:20 pmthat i don’t understand. the z properties = 124,32 (of the qoute bubble)…z property of text = -540 ( I just type the text in the bubble) and text is not seen….only when I choose another blend mode.
Also I wondered if I always need to check the xyz properties when the rectangle is not to be seen? -

Sorry, I’m not ignoring you…I was at a shot all day yesterday. I’m wondering if your text is behind the arrow. I’m saying that you need to make sure that your Z distance on the text is closer to the camera.Stephen Smith
