Arri to Avid workflow
Hi Guys,
I’m an editor and I need to decode what a cinematographer is saying to me.
He’s shooting on Arri and I want to know what to tell the lab in terms of transcoding to create Avid media.
Cinematographer’s quote: “I will be shooting with the Arri Amira, so a prores 4.4.4 workflow just like Alexa.”
Will I be getting the normal DNxHD 36 (HD1080p) media or do I ask the lab for something else?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

“He is telling you that you should handle the files in your workflow just as if they were coming from the Arri Alexa.
You tell the lab what you want, if that is DNX36 that what you should be getting.Don’t you as a post guy you tell the lab or DIT the format you want/ need to edit in or they pay you / your facility to convert it to your preferred format.
