Hi.

I’m considering buying DL Extreem SD.
Is there eny possibility to test my array beforehand?

As I can underestand disc speed testing utility
is a part of bundle.

Is there eny other way wich will count?

you can try xbench for mac and if it’s pc then try atto’s HBA Utilities.

Hi Margus,

The Blackmagic Disk Speed Test utility will only run with a DeckLink card installed in your PC but you can use any DeckLink card for this purpose.

If you would like to tell us about your proposed disk array, we can probably suggest whether it will be suitable or not. Will you be connecting via SATA, SCSI or Fiber Channel and how many disks will be used?

Hi.

I have a 3ware 9000 (9500-4LP) series SATA 4 way raid and 4x 120 GB Seagate SATA I

I have some plans to upgrade HDD to Hitachi 500GB 7200rpm Serial ATA II-300.

If the speed is suitable I plan to stay on 4 discs for a while.
It should do for SD I think.

Hi Margus,

These days it is often possible to capture and playback 10-bit uncompressed SD video to a single SATA drive. The performance is marginal and so I would never recommend this for real use but the point is that 4 drives will definitely be OK given that 1 drive is just enough for basic functions. Your proposal to use 4x 120 GB Seagate SATA I drives should work extremely well for your SD requirements for some while to come.
