  • Array – different textures

    Greetings,

I have a rather simple question. After creating a cube, I’ve created an array out of it that has 8 instances of it. Now, when I try to texture, it seems that no matter what I attach to one cube, all others inherit it as well.

Is there a way to apply different textures on each instance of an object that’s been arrayed?

    Thanks in advance!

There’s no direct way to do that if you’re using the standard array object, but if you are using MoGraph it’s quite easy to do with the mograph color shader or mograph multi shader.

If you don’t have mograph you can still do it if you only need basic color. To do that, create a radial gradient with the knots set to none, create as many colors as you have array objects, and put the material on the array object with flat projection. Then scale and rotate the UV plane so each wedge of the gradient pie covers one clone.
