    Hi everyone,

I have some footage from an ARI Alexa in Apple ProRes 422 Proxy (2048×1152), at 23,98. The footage looks like in slow motion. I thought that for a slow motion your frame rate should be higher than 23,98.

What should I do to see the footage playing faster? I try speed up and it works. Why the footage looks in slow motion at 23.98 f/s?

    Thanks a lot!

Some cameras allow a higher frame rate to be shot but wrapped in a lower frame rate. Certainly my Ursa Mini does this. If I select 25fps I can then select 60fps in 25fpr and the resultant file is falgged as 25 but shot at 60 so it plays slo mo automatically without having to put the files into Cinema Tools and reflag the frame rate.

Alexa may be doing the same as the Ursa but I don’t know if that is how Alexa does slo mo. If it is a mistake perhaps the footage was actually shot 50 or 60p and FCP is getting it wrong.

in my experience Alexa footage shot off-speed comes to me set to my editing frame rate: 25, or 24 depending on the show.

i don’t know what they do within the camera, but that’s how it comes to me.
    nice and simple
