  • Area lights won’t render along a spline????

    Hello,

I’m using area lights to illuminate the underside of an object – imagine kitchen lights used under the edge of the skirting board to give that luminous effect.

Area shape set to > Cylinder (perpendicular). There is the option to set the area shape to > spline but when I select this & drop in a spline the lights don’t show up in the render. All of the other settings are exactly as before when it was rendering fine but as soon as I include the spline it doesn’t show up??

Can add pictures if I’m not making any sense.

    Thanks in advance!

Have also read around that the ‘add grain’ tick-box helps to reduce the blotchy lighting result of an area light – without massively upping the samples is there another way to reduce the grain of the light in the render at all? Render times are physically painful with samples near 1000+ & this is just in a basic scene with a few bits in!

    Any suggestions massively appreciated!

    Thanks
