I’ve been in Lightwave for a long time, and have had to get Cinema under my belt for my current gig. One thing that’s getting me is that it seems the closer to an area light an object, the LESS bright it is. Say if I have an area light just outside a window to simulate sun inside a room, the window pillars are almost black while the far wall is lit nicely. I’ve messed with pretty much every setting–Is this just an artifact of area lights, or am I missing something?

    Thanks in advance!

Have you tried switching on inverse square falloff?

Might want to try dropping down your shadow’s strength.

Yeah it helps a lot to set a falloff, but seems like it shouldn’t have one if its simulating sunlight, but it gets the job done for a room 🙂
