“FCPX 10.1 plus the announcement of a new MacPro would be a tremendous 1-2 punch.”When the poet said, “Hope springs eternal in the human breast,” he surely was thinking about this forum!
And getting more positive feedback from the professional community certainly does help drive software and hardware sales. Apple’s margin exceeded 40% last year and I can’t help feel that they can well afford to keep their high-end line of Macs going indefinitely especially as it was certainly part of Steve Jobs’ vision to serve the professional creative and scientific communities. .
I think the most technologically interesting development Monday may be if they revamp the Mac Pro Server to make it a true server configuration.
And since I love my iMac except for its graphicsi limitations, I’m hoping they will offer a design that allows replaceable graphics cards in the iMac! Now I know that sounds crazy, but that’s what I’d do if I was a Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering.

June 7, 2012 at 12:38 amA new MacPro is a done deal. Not necessarily because of the product codes that have been leaking in the last day or two, but because LoopInsight’s Jim Dalrymple said there would be. He has a stellar record with Apple info, and doesn’t comment where he isn’t sure.
With that in mind, I don’t see the iMac becoming any more customizable. If you need power and performance you can’t get from an iMac, then you really do need what a MacPro offers. Added GPU and expandability will become more of a reality for the rest of the Mac line when Thunderbolt reaches it’s 100GB optical potential.
As far as FCPX, it’s going to be a long game. Some people may never come back. Some might if there’s a compelling reason to do so; be it price, functionality, or workflow. A couple years ago there were loads of people who swore they’d never go back to AVID who now have. If the software changes and evolves, opinions will too.

We get:
– “Send to Motion” roundtrip
– AudioMixer
– copy-paste attributes
– monitoring is out of betaand I would like to get a feature where we can export a compound-clip (so you can export portions of a project)

Actually monitoring is currently out of Apple’s beta and has been since the last update. It’s just than not all the card manufacturers are out of their own beta.
