Posted by Rinny8 on November 22, 2005 at 12:30 amI’m trying to show a city blow up in a huge atomic explosion! : )

November 22, 2005 at 12:32 amoh…and one more thing. Is there anyway to make particles climb up walls and stuff? Say like having cracks run up a wall or a wall rotting away or something. I saw something like this on the Wondertouch website but I think it was proffesional…

November 22, 2005 at 7:47 pmThere are a bunch of mushroom clouds in the July 2004 library.
The best example I’ve seen of rotting/cracking type effect is the clip from Smallville on the pI demo reel (the hand placing the dis)
I think that was done by using an emitter as a displacement or bump map in a 3D program. Super emitters with high f-Velocity, long particle Life, and low particle velocity should be able to create a nice growing crack effect that you can then map onto 3D geometry

I believe the “don’t erase” option was used as well, so the particles “draw” the cracks.

November 22, 2005 at 9:32 pmA lot of compositing and editing programs have bump/displacement filters that can get similar effects to a 3D displacement map. Have a look at whatever software you use.
