I have got a big problem:
I have edited a HD Project in APP2.0 and have now original clips of 11 GB (30 minutes) Video which I cant archive on DVD (4GB). I startet the wrong way – digitizing the HD Tapes in on run (as there is no szene detection with HD material in APP2.0), loaded it in Source monitor and with in and out markers made single clips which I pushed into the sequence directly and not into the project window. Now in the project window there are only the original clips with 11GB and more, but not the single clips (they are only in the sequence). Now I c’t save the original clips on DVD. Is there a workaround to get either
    1. single clips into the project window to re-batch

    or any other idea?

    Thanks a lot

Check out the Project Manager feature (Project>Project Manager). Archive “untrimmed” version to an external hard drive.
To locate the original in and out points, select the clip in the timeline and press T key.

This doesn’t really help, as the files get smaller but still too large 8GB. How do I get a single clip from the timeline into the prpject window for batching. With “T” I can see it in the Source monitor but do not get it into project window?

    Thanks

You can drag the clip from the source window back into the Project window and name it as a subclip, but I dont understand how this is going to help.
Other options involve dual layer discs or use WinRar or Winzip to break up a large folder into 4 gb zipped chunks.

The idea behind is to recapture the single files, but exactly this does not work for some reasons as the clips from source window can not be dragged into project window, not by dragging and not by dragging with strg. strange?

Subclips are created in the Source window and can be dragged to the timeline. Further, subclips do not contain original timecode so cant be used to recapture anything. You will need to recapture the entire tape (s).

    Hi Erich,
The most straight forward way to archive video footage is to put it on an external Hard Drive. Gig per dollar in Hard disks Vs DVDs is no longer a cost effective contest. Buy an External Case you can open up and replace the hard drive yourself. Buy a Massive Gig Hard drive and put that in. Format it. Copy everything to it. Once it’s full. (Backed up many items) take the Hard Drive out of the case. Label it and whats on it somewhere (XL spreadsheet). Store the Hard Drive somewhere cool like a cupboard. That’s it. DVDs degrade with time and Hard Drives allow you to play from them when you need to use the footage again. Been doing it this way for several years. No better solution out there. Hope this helps.
