I’m looking for an archive solution for our SAN. LTO 4 seems like a good way to go: 800GB per tape is pretty good, speed looks good. Price looks good. A few manufacturers are making external drives in the sub $3k range. Does anybody out there have a working hardware/software solution for the Mac? I’m thinking I would just hang the drive off my backup MDC Xserve. Doesn’t need to be automatic. I would just drag older project folders from my XSAN volume to the tape drive. It would be great if the software kept track of what folders are on what tapes.
It would be great to hear from someone with a working setup.
Thanks,
Gordon

Quantum 600a uses Gig E for connectivity and a cross platform java interface.
currently only LTO3- which is the most common archive format for banks and the like.
Niche video (nichevideo.com) recently got me a unit for one of my clients- good people I recommend them
