  • Arabic Text In After Effects

Posted by Rayishu on July 11, 2006 at 5:00 am

ok i have my PC set up so that i can type arabic on it, when i type the arabic in word in comes out fine, i take taht same text and copy and paste it into after effects and the text comes out backwards (because arabic is right to left and english is left to right)

so i tried typing the letters backwords but that didnt work because arabic is written in a cursive type way so even if the letters come out in the same order there not connected

i tried copying it from word to phothop then exporting the pixels as a PNG but when i take that into after effects i still get white around the text, plus i dont want to export the text as a picture because i cant work with its charectors and animate it in after effects and its not anti aliad, what should i do, i mean ive seen it done before u guys have any clue?

Well, one solution would be using an Illustrator file. You will not experience any loss of quality even as you zoom in because it is be vector based. AE does have issues with Asian and Arabic languages… Maybe someone else will have a workaround.

    Cheers,

    Two simple steps:

    1. Add a -100% in x scale and you will have the whole text reversed

    2. Then inside the text add a scale animator and do the same (then each charachter will reverse itself)

    Two simple steps:

    1. Add a negative value to the x scale so you have the whole text reversed

    2. Then inside the text properties add a scale animator and do the same, add a -100 in x and then each charachter will reverse itself

Did you try it? because its not working.

Arabic Text its not about reversing the hole text and every character separately, every character has four forms according to it position it the word (first, middle, end, isolated).

You did two important steps, but you have to do one more step.

Ive done it by script in my post above, but you may find another way.

Sorry, I assumed that you were copying and pasting the text from another app, not directly writing it in AFX.

And in fact, in that case (copying the text from Word, which I understand is the case of this thread), YES, I tried it; and YES, it works.
Good script, by the way, I will use it next time. Thanks for sharing.

Wow…. I have to say SORRY. You are right, if the letters are not linked in the word they display as single letters and look completely different. I am now using your script. Sorry again.
