    Hi All…

I’ve got a recurring project that I shoot at a combination of 4k and 1080 for SD widescreen deliverable.

Currently I work in a SD WS deliverable sequence

and utilize a lot of reframing of the 4k and 1080 material.

I can get it it done, but it does make my system chug.

All of the source (3 cameras) are h264.

I’m wondering if setting proxies that are ProRes and Half res will improve the performance significantly during the cut.

The big question is how I can handle the resolution changes in combination with the proxies….

I’m thinking that, at least for the 4k, I should handle that as a nested source where my sequence (@ 4k) holds the proxy source (low res ProRes)

in this way…all the keyframing happens to the nest container…and then I can simply swap out the low res proxy for the full res upon completion of the cut and none of the positioning info would be adversely affected….

    does this sound right?

the other question is that if the nest sequence is a 4K container will I significantly improve my performance during the cut using the low res proxy scaled up within that sequence?

    your thoughts are appreciated…

    thanks!
