Applying filters to roles?
Posted by Jonathan White on September 26, 2011 at 12:13 pmHi,
Just wondering if it’s possible to apply audio filters to roles? I know I can highlight the different roles in the timeline but it doesn’t seem to select them.. what I would like to do (for example) is select every instance of a certain speaker and apply compression to them.. a bit like applying filters to a bus I think..
Is this possible with roles yet??
Thanks,

September 26, 2011 at 5:15 pmI haven’t been able to use the roles “tab” to select clips, however, select the “clips” button in the timeline browser, right-click on the column headings, and turn on the “roles” column.
Now you can type the roles name in the search field, and select the clips in the timeline index, and NOW you can add your effect to all of them at once.
It’s not a bus filter, but you can make it work.

September 27, 2011 at 10:02 pmWooo… Nice.
Hm. If this is where things are heading…
I would love even more sorting abilities in the timeline. And then some. For a complex project, searching for “media in a bin” might be tedious and much easier with keywording/metadata powers, but to operate clips in unison in a complex timeline based solely on criterias I chose. That will be awesome. If they go full circle with it.
As posted elswehere, being able to adjust stacking orders by Roles would be really good. And most other sorting/filtering abilities that can be user controlled. Please Apple, the ones of you who would want to listen, more of that. And then some.
And. Fix the broken stuff.
