Apply Shatter to a mask
I am trying to apply shatter to a mask, but it occupies the whole layer when I apply it. I have read and watched some tutorials, and they seem to work for them. What am I doing wrong?

Is there a reason you can’t precompose your mask layer, then add shatter?

It appears that Shatter won’t apply to a layer that has multiple masks.
