Apply Sapphire Light Rays to specific areas of the frame
Hi,
I am trying to apply a Sapphire Light Ray effect to a shot but I don’t want it to affect the whole of the frame so I need to mask of some areas – I can’t quite work out how to do this, I can see the Mask option on the effect but how do I acutally DO it?

Nest or stack an animatte effect. You have much more control over it than crop.

I actually know how to do it in BCC as I end up using that more.
If you are going to be using Sapphire a lot, I would STRONGLY recommend this book:

You can do as Grinner suggests, but the Mask parameter is actually a really powerful tool in Sapphire.
Move your shot to v2 with the sapphire effect on and the Mask set to ‘1 Track below’.
Now put a Paint Effect on the Filler on v1. Draw a shape around the area of the screen you want to effect and change the color to white. You have now made a Mask that Sapphire will look at and only apply the Rays to. The cool thing is now you can Motion Track the shape if you wish.
