I am applying a couple of effects one being light rays and I key framed them to gradually come in and gradually go out – they don’t render out smoothly. They go smooth for a bit – then seem to jump to a level of effect them smooth out again?

When u get this, I get very critical of the Keyframe timeline and interrogate very carefully to ascertain if I had introduced any unnecessary K/Fs. I’m hoping you’ve got something similar.

What format are you rendering the 1080 30p video as? And what are you playing them with? It maybe the video’s fine, just on the CPU hard to play. You can always load a rendered file into Vegas and step through each frame where it stutters and see if it’s in the rendered video.

    I recorded in 1920×1080 EX1 MP4
converted to cineform 1920×1080 AVI High for main footage and that is my project settings.
the effects problems are happening on some jpegs i imported and then put lightrays on them, keyframed to progressively increase.
it goes smooth then jumps a few steps and then smooth again.

I rendered out to 1280×720 MainConcept Mpeg 2 progresive 16×9 to view in DVD.
I have no idea what to set those settings, or if that would help
if it will help i will post a clip so you can see, I need help!!!!

Are the jpegs a higher res than your video? If so try matching the 1920 x 1080 res with the jpegs and see what happens. After looking at your comp. specs, you should have no trouble playing any of the files your working with.

    Don,

This has happened to me a few times, and I am not saying I have a very scientific answer, but it is usually down to the fact that there are some keyframes present which should not be. Just to rule this out, I would suggest removing all keyframes from one of the sections where it is doing this, then add them again. use the next/previous keyframe buttons at the bottom of the keyframe section to move through them and delete them one at a time. I have found sometimes that I have added two keyframes to the same place, and depending on the effect this can exhibit the behaviour you have described…
