Application Error in Vegas 7
I recently upgraded from my old Vegas 6 to 7 and I’m editing a 30 min show and I’ve created elements in 6 that I’ve had issues with 7 reading. Just about the time I think I have it all working together I’m printing to tape and get an Application Error. It shuts down and now every time I try to open the project I get to 39% and WHAM I get an error message that reads… 39%-Untitled-Sony Vegas 7.0: vegas 70.exe- Application Error.. in the blue bar then the message reads… The exception unknown software exception (0xc0000409) occurred in the application at location 0x3583409b. Anyone got any insights on this I’ve rebooted etc.. trying to get the project to open and nothing works yet. Appreciate any thoughts. I am editing with a lot of nested stuff, such as show open & close, commercial spots etc. Which were created in Vegas 6. I’m at an empass.
This is the first time I’ve put Vegas to this kind of work out, I usually edit on Avid but with the budget I had and I wanted to put my old Vegas to the test- It’s not going so well.

Don’t get too frustrated,
First, try carry out a re-installation maintenance. and let me know if it helps or not.
Method: Go to….C:/Program Files/Sony Setup/Vegas 7.0
Then press “vegas07_enu” and follow the instructions to
carry out maintenance.Steve Rhoden

Thanks Steve, I did go through the Maintance process and uninstalled and reinstalled the software even to the extent of taking all Sony products off my pc, and am still getting the exception (0xc0000409) at the 0x358340409b location. An it still occurs at the 39% loading of the project. Also now a previous project loads to 90% and I get the error message. I’m not sure now that my project files are not corrupted.

As I recall, a few folks had some issues with 7.0e that were resolved by stepping back to 7.0d.
If you don’t have that version, it’s availble from the Sony archives. -

It should be still available. However have you tried defragging your system before trying to render?I went from Vegas 5 to 7, Never had a problem and now I’m using 8. Back in 5 if I had problems rendering, usually a defrag would take care of the problem unless there’s a corrupted file somewhere.

Ok guys here’s what I’ve done. I did un- then re-installed (after taking all the sony products off my computer) Vegas several times- still no help I couldn’t get the project to open. I then spent all night re-editing the show one segment at a time it seemed to like the a shorter project when printing to tape. Thankfully my closed-caption guy offices in the same building and he assembled each seg for me(from tape)in FCP he saved my butt. I then had to drive the tape to Houston, Tx (3.5 hrs) to FOX Sports where the show airs (I missed my shipping deadline at UPS). So I’m not in a good Vegas mood and really leaning toward buying an Avid only because I know it well. I’ve never had this many bugs to work through with any other edit system I’ve worked on (Avid, FCP, Media 100). I really enjoy the ease of the Vegas but man!! The only thing I’m thinking is that all the elements (open,close, teases tips segs etc)were created in Vegas 6 which was buggie. I want to give Vegas 7 a total ground up chance (maybe after the season). does anyone use Vegas 8 in a weekly television situation- how does it perform?
