    Hi guys,

Does any one out there know why my FCP v5.1.2 hangs when I launch the capture tool to capture PAL DV SDI video and audio.I have not tried any other signals. The only way possible at present to ingest material is via firewire.

I’m using a blackmagic multibridge extreme (not the internal card) break-out box with the Decklink Mac Multibridge driver version 5.7.2.
My system and FCP application spec is OSX 10.4.8, FCP is 5.1.2, QT is 7.1.3 all on a Dual 2.3GHz Power PcG5 with 2gb of RAM.

Help will be gratefully appreciated. Kevin Monahan – thanks for your reply re: ‘out of memory’

    Hi,

Please quit out of Final Cut Pro and launch Blackmagic Deck Control. Go to the Preferences and change its easy setup to PAL DV and also set the disk location where you want your clips to be captured. To make this a fair comparison test, make the disk location the same as you use for Final Cut Pro. Now go ahead and capture some PAL material via SDI. Does Blackmagic Deck Control successfully capture the material and save it to the PAL DV format in a QuickTime movie or does some problem occur, eg a crash?

This test will provide a useful comparison to see if you have a general problem or one that is confined to Final Cut Pro.
