We are a cross platform post production facility running mostly Apple Final Cut. However we have a PC set up to do DVD authoring and video compression. Is there a way to get an Apple ProRes 422 QuickTime into the PC realm? I don’t have the newest version of Premiere installed yet on our PC, but I assume that Premiere only supports the ProRes Codec on the Mac. Any insight??

CS3 appears to only support ProRes on the mac only when FCS 2 is installed.

Ahh yes the open platform which is FCP….except DVCPRO HD and Pro Rez…

    hmmm

Those codecs wil likely only be installed is FC is installed on a mac (best guess)..once installed, then you can use the media in any QT compliant application on that Mac.

So for PC usage….Me thinks an export of material to a standardized codec would be in oder to facilitate DVD authoring on a PC….

    Best guess…

Thanks for following up on this….I certainly didn’t. Thank you for the link, but a couple weeks back we tried opening a ProRes422 file on the PC and everything worked just fine. I assume it was included in a QuickTime update from Apple.

Premiere Pro CS4 plays back the ProRes files without rendering….sweet
