    Apple ProRes Codec – Intel only?

    Greetings!

    Let me give me my specs first because this may be a hardware and/or software issue on my end.

    PowerMac G5 2.5 GHz DP, 8 GB RAM
    FCP Studio 2 (FCP 6.0.1)
    BM Deck Link 6.4

    Is it true that ProRes will only work on an Intel MacPro? I’ve tried capturing 1080i HDCAM footage to Apple ProRes with my G5, but it appears to capture “slow” and playback fast and out of sync with the audio.

    Hi Jason,

    It’s not an Intel only codec but you’ll need at least a quad G5 in order to capture in real time.
