Apple Mac Pro and Editing
Hi everyone,
I’m not sure if this thread has been up before but I’ll just like to give it a go.
I have a Mac Pro 3.1 (early 2008)
18G of Ram with ATI 5770
Running FCP 7 and X but I still find it sluggish.
I guess my question is straight forward, HOW DO I OPTIMISE FOR SPEED on FCP suite and the X suite.
I do know that processor speed pays a big role here but with 18G, i should be able to ramp something.Thanks in advance.

You didn’t say anything about your storage. CPU cycles and memory accesses are measured in microseconds, storage accesses are usually milliseconds. So if things seem sluggish, start there.

i have 320GB HDD (OSX Lion)
3TB (3X1TB of Samsung HDD, 7200) for media.
