    hi,

is there a good reason why all of a sudden my camera is not recognized by fcp. i noticed in the system profiler that as soon as i turn the camera on, there is no information about the firewire port. turn the camera off, firewire 400 info is there. i have a firewire external drive that is recognized. I’ve trashed FCP preferences and blah blah blah…FCP 4.5 on a G4 AGP. Quicktime 6. WTF. everything was cool, and then one day…..andy

See my post further down. It is a Quicktime bug introduced again with 7.13.

[Christopher Wright] “It is a Quicktime bug introduced again with 7.13.”

Except that he says he’s using QT 6.

Does iMovie recognize the camera? If not, my guess is that the FW port on the camera is no longer functioning. Can you borrow another camera and see if FCP sees a different camera? If you can get another camera to work, it narrows down from where the malfunction originiates.

If iMovie does see the camera, then are you SURE you didn’t upgrade to QT 7? History shows us that Mr. Wright would likely then be right…er, correct!

I’m have quicktime 6 and in the process of tracking down another camera. I thought it might be the firewire out from the cam. i’ll see how it turns out. just wanted to make sure if it was something less obvious. i checked most of the firewire missing posts and have gone through the obvious troubleshooting measures.

    thanx-andy
