  • Apple Compressor 4 creating blank or corrupted .m2t and .mpeg

I’m trying to create some .mpeg and .m2t files for a tv station and compressor is outputting blank files or files that seem corrupted.
The .m2t come out blank or perhaps I just can’t play them and the .mpeg files have no video and when you try to play them you get a crazy scrambled audio sound.

When I create mpeg2 with adobe media encoder they seem to play back but i’d rather do these batch compressions in compressor- plus I already created like 20 presets for various tv stations.

    Any thoughts?

I’ve updated everything, running compressor 4 and osx 10.8.2

[Ali Clark] “perhaps I just can’t play them”
… and this mysterious player is?
Not all players can play all formats.
I’d suggest testing in VLC 2.0.5.

VLC does play the mpeg2’s but not the .m2t

I don’t understand why some .mpeg’s will open with quicktime and some will only open with vlc.
Both are MPEG-2 program stream. Could it have something to do with YUV 4:2:2 Color?

I just want to be able to check the videos before I send them off to tv stations.
Any ideas on how to play .m2t’s since they wont open in vlc?

Yup. Quicktime can’t even play H.264 if it’s 4:2:2 color.

Try MPlayer. Not absolutely sure that’ll work though.

FWIW, I use MPEG Streamclip to open and play mpeg transport streams and they play perfectly well – audio and video.
