this is the closest category I can find.
from FC7 I went to Adobe and now I’m trying to come back.
apple compressor 4.6.3 isn’t settings are not right. I add a wav file, or any other, to the batch window and compressor applies every preset before I can choose. All I can do now is remove all the presets I don’t want to get an mp3. How can I reset it to work like it does in the YouTube tuts.

This is not typical behavior, and I’ve never heard of it before. When you add a file to a Batch, nothing should happen except that file was added to the batch, nothing should be automatically applied. Did you create any custom presets or custom destinations. I’d sure love to see a screen recording of this in action.
So, there’s some typical troubleshooting we can try. First is to go to the Preferences for Compressor, in the General tab, verify default settings for jobs and destinations.
Next, go to the Advanced tab, click the Reset Queue button, select Cancel Jobs, click the Reset button Go back into Reset Queue again, this time select Repair Compressor, click the Reset button. Quit and relaunch Compressor. See if this helps.

Ok, your first solution fixed it. I did try the others first.
Under General/setting was set to Built-in, so I changed it to None and everything works as it should. Not sure how it got changed or why anyone would use all the presets at once. Custom would make sense.

upon further study, you can use the Built in setting and select a specific one that you may use frequently, such as the video sharing formats, all or just one.
