    i’m a bit confused about 16:9 framesizes.

my dvpal file is 720×576 anamorphic.
when I use Compressor to convert it to MPEG2 16:9, the file is 720×404. I lose pixels.
shouldn’t it still be 720×576 pixels (and afterwords stretched in the dvd or whatever-player) ?

Compression documentation doesn’t make this quite clear for me, so I hope someone could tell me how it works 🙂 thanks!

The trick is to not believe what QT is telling you. It looks at the PAR flags and says it’s 720×404 when in fact it’s 720×480 anamorphic. Look at it through MPEGStreamclip (a free app if you don’t have it), and it will show you that it’s correct.

Actually it would be 720×576 if you use the (superior) PAL format rather than the 720×480 of NTSC.

    😉

Yes, that’s true, but same point, same result. I’m so U.S. centric. 🙂
