  • Apple Color crashes on startup when “Send To” is used

Is anyone else using Color experiencing startup crashes when Color is invoked out of FCP via the “Send to Color” option?

When opened in standalone mode, Color starts up fine. It only crashes when invoked from FCP.

I think this might be a Decklink issue, because when I disable the Decklink as the Video Output in the Color prefs, “Send To” works fine.

Decklink Pro, Fnal Cut Studio 2, Decklink 6.2 drivers, OS X 10.4.9, Quicktime 7.1.6

    Have you disabled video desktop?

I’d call support. I don’t think this is a widespread issue that you’ll find answers to on this forum.

I had a few issues on Friday night, that *seemed to be* associated with the complexity of the clip I was throwing at it. The test clip was chock full of motion effects, guassian blurs etc, and Color crashed everytime I sent a timeline its way.

When I took the same footage, but stripped all of the filters and motion elements off it (ie. cuts only) it accepted the timeline without skipping.

The only other issue I had was when Color would not launch when I did a “Send To” from FCP. After a lot of scratching my head, I realised that I had caused my own issue…. I was being a smart alec, and had renamed Color “Colour” (the proper spelling…..). Once I renamed it back, it worked fine!

Not sure if this helps, but might give you a bit more data to go on. I will let you know if I have any further progress with this issue.

    Cheers
