Apple cinema display not working after Adobe Update
I was installing Adobe speed grade on my Mac Pro 2008 which runs an apple cinema display through an Nvidea Quadro FX 4800 graphics card via an Atlona DP400.
I also run a Samsung sync master monitor through the same card.
Whilst updating speedgrade to CC2015 I started up media encoder 2015.
Whilst loading it started to load all manner of plugins (in the dialogue box) and then the cinema display stopped working.
The Samsung display works fine through the card still but the apple display does not…
Tested the apple display on another graphics card and it works fine.
The Atlona DP400 convertor is showing green so presumably it still works.
Whe I boot up with both monitors attached The Apple display shows a status bar with the loading icon as it cycles through… Then it goes black and I get no use of the secondary monitor at all…
I have tried uninstalling both speed grade and media encoder but this hasn’t rectified the problem.
Can anybody help please?

Does your ACD work when you are not using Adobe Apps? Have you tried switching the ACD to the other port on the Nvidia card? Do you another Atlona DP400 to test?

I can’t get the ACD to work at all…
It shows up as loading when I boot up and then goes to black.
I did try swapping ports and even removing the other monitor from the other port…
I can’t get another Atlona DP400 as they are discontinued – I suspected it may have been the problem, but it is only a year old and was working fine until the adobe install.
I am trying to avoid having to spend any more on this Mac as I am hoping that at some point in the near future Apple will actually release a Mac Pro that is ready to deal with 4 and 8k material. (The current mac pro has seen little change since 2013 so I am waiting patiently to see what they do.
Just annoying that it just stopped working for no apparent reason. Working on a single 1080p monitor is a nightmare.
I don’t know of any replacements for the Atlona DVI convertor – I guess after a couple of years Macs become hopelessly redundant so support for peripherals fades along with them. 🙁

If you’re monitor works on other computers, I’d guess your Atlona went bad. I have used some of their stuff in the past and have come to affectionately refer to them as Craplona…the products are cheap and don’t hold up terribly well in my experience.

I’ve ordered the Kanex dual dvi… Fingers crossed that it solves the issue.
