I knew from Roland and the gang that Apple was extremely interested in what they were able to with Final Touch HD and XML’s with FCP. I had no idea they were going to buy it.

It will be very intersting to see if this becomes part of the rumored Final Cut Pro Extreme that we’ve heard about in the past as this is a very extreme color correction tool. We own it and I’m going to be very interested to see where this all goes.

Final Touch is already realtime with the ATI cards on the G5’s and the Mac Pro. It’s a killer app, I’m just hopeful the universal binary version (2.7) will be released shortly so we can get it onto our Mac Pro.

Isn’t that FXPlug and a beefy graphics card?

Now Apple just need to address slomos & media manager and I’d be happy

Honestly! I’d love to be able to use Media Manager, but it’s a little too close to playing Russian Roulette. I’ve wound up like Christopher Walken in The Deer Hunter one too many times!

I’m thrilled that Apple has seen the value in Final Touch. Congrats to Roland for creating an incredible product that is going to integrate quite nicely with the rest of Final Cut Studio.

We’ve outfitted three on-line rooms with FCP/Final Touch, and look forward to a more “seamless” integration with FCP.

It’s going to be a very interesting NAB this year.

I’m going to be very interested to see what happens to the Universal Binary version that was shown at IBC. It’s very possible the entire FT line will be “frozen” until NAB and it’s re-branded by Apple.

FT 3.0 was in well into development too so it will be interesting to see what happens to that version of the software.

Personally I think it was much better for Silicon Color to remain a third party like AJA. Would hate to see FT end up like Shake where it’s eventually just left to put into the discount bin. Where FT was going it was a real competitor to daVinci. I would hate for Apple to water the entire thing down and we just end up with a glorified 3-Way Color Corrector.
