Call me old fashioned, but I just like the look and design of the Apple monitors. Sure, they don’t have as many inputs as the Dell’s, but they just are so clean looking.

As for reliability… we have over two hundred in our shop. Most have been running 24-7 for almost two years. Haven’t replaced a SINGLE one yet.

We have two of the older 20 inch and 22 inch that have been running for three years and have had no problems and no burn in on the screens.

    Hi,

I was also looking in to purchasing a Dell monitor. Does anyone have the monitor below? I’m on a fairly strict budget right now, and this seems like a good deal. Although I’d prefer a wide-aspect monitor, that can certainly wait for the future. Right now I have a 6 year old 17″ NEC monitor hooked up to my new G5 and it just looks… sad. 🙂 Any thoughts on this. Is the 20ms time going to cause problems with the display in FCP? Thanks!

Dell UltraSharp 1905FP 19-inch Flat Panel Monitor
$483.53 (this inlcudes tax and shipping and is in Canadian dollars – about $416US) Can anyone recommend a superior product for about the same price? It’ll mostly be used for cutting in FCP.

You should watch for deals on this monitor:
    Dell 20in 2005FPW LCD. It’s a very good monitor.
There was just a deal that expired at $334.
    Now it’s $434 (I think).
I’m fairly positive you could get this monitor for
between $340 and $500 almost anytime. You just have to watch for the deals.
Go to sites for price searches like http://www.dealmac.com or http://www.techbargains.com
and others. They are always listing the Dell stuff.
Even the 24 inch goes for $799 every now and then.
In fact, even the monitor you listed just had a deal for $319.
but that’s expired. Believe me Dell is always having deals. ALWAYS.

    Dan
