I have a question, and I hope its a simple answer. Basically to sum it up. I have a particle layer that draws a line to allow the text to appear from no where. And basically the effect I wanted, is to have, a black screen and magic wand (right now its a picture of my finger) draw a line (via the particle layer) of the title. Now that I have finished it, I dont like it.

My question: Can I setup the particle layer that is essentially drawing out my text, but really set it up so that it cuts into a matte or key colored to allow the layer behind it to appear. I will go into photoshop and design a very nice looking title, and the particle line that follows my finger allows it to appear as my finger comes over it.

    I hope this makes sense.

So I think what you’re asking is to use the particles as a mask that tells which area of the title to appear?

If so, ready about track mattes in the manual, they will help you. It uses a layer as a mask for another layer 🙂
