[Oliver Peters] “That’s all well and good, but – other than saving drive space – can anyone point to anything that defines why APFS is better on computers (not iOS)?”

    Some benefits are described here:

Well, completely relieved to see this…

“APFS supports 64-bit inode numbers, supporting over 9 quintillion files on a single volume”

Cuz I’m pretty sure we’re already pushing that boundry for internet cat videos.

    Just sayin’

[Walter Soyka] “I would caution everyone to make sure their everyday applications will support APFS. I know the Flame family, for example, specifically does not support APFS at this time:

“As many of you have likely heard, Apple will be releasing macOS High Sierra (10.13) beta in the coming weeks, which will include a new Apple File System (APFS). This new Apple File System is not compatible with the Flame Family of products. Installing macOS High Sierra beta on systems running Flame, Flame Assist or Flare may prevent the applications from launching, and possibly compromise project data. We will be sure to update you with any developments as Autodesk and Apple work to address this.””

Update! Smoke and Flame is now ready for High Sierra, but there is a specific upgrade process that must be followed for it to work:

But, crucially, Wacom drivers are not ready yet for High Sierra:

“Apple has announced 10.13 High Sierra will be released September 25th. Wacom is currently working on a new driver update to support the new operating system. The new Wacom driver will be ready by late October at the latest. Due to nature of the changes in High Sierra, the existing Wacom driver for 10.12 will not work. To continue to use your tablet uninterrupted, Wacom suggests not to upgrade to 10.13 until the new driver is released. Once released the update will appear in the Wacom Desktop Center and posted on the Wacom driver page…”
