anything similar to Avid Paint Effect?
I have in the past on Avid used the paint effect to create a nice soft cloud behind lower 3rds. Having a hard time finding anything on FCP that does an equivalent thing… rather not have to create an individual cloud in photoshop for each one. Anything in FCP that allows for reshaping soft edge blobs with bezier curves? Usually not as simple as an oval, needs to be bent around a bit…

You can use a matte and perhaps the 8 Points Garbage Matte.
If not enough there is a free Garbage matte plugin that supports till 50 bezier points.

If you ever get a chance you might want to take a look at Motion which comes with FCS. It has lots of free content such as the “blurry cloud.png”. The paint tool can create all sorts of things like you described as well. Best of luck.
