    Hey guys
I am about to starting putting together a 2 month road trip. There is alot of footage spread out over the week’s time and I hate to upload it all with ProRes due to the size it would be. Is there a way to tell FCP to upload at a lower quality? I am not looking to make this anything other than a home video of the events my wife and I did on the road trip (that sounds kinky- my apologies). Anyway, no need for ProRes and that amount of space being eaten up.
    any help is greatly appreciated

AVCHD’s biggest problem is after encoding it becomes huge. Like 100 Gb AVCHD could be anything between 600 Gb to 1 Tb after Log and transfer.

What I’d do is slightly longer but could save space.

    Do a log and transfer.
Take the ProRes captures into Compressor
    Compress them into HDV

    Use that for edit.

Not sure what it does to the quality, but you could try a small clip and check.
