  Anyone worked with a JVC SR-VS30U Deck?

  I’m looking for a ~1000$ Mini DV deck of sorts (as an alternative to a 300$ miniDV camcorder) and JVC seems to offer a couple decent models. My biggest concern is tape compatibility; I shoot with an XL2, and I’ve read conflicting things about JVC decks being unable to read tapes shot with other companies camcorders, Canon in particular. I’m also concerned about capturing 24P/24PA footage. Anyone have any first hand experience with JVC’s decks to share? Any insights appreciated, thanks.
