Real-world report would be most appreciated.

Or do I have to be the first one in?

what the F#$% are you asking here – what is your question ?
Updated to FCP 2? Updated to Leopard ? Updated to an I/O HD?

Alright. Let me make myself…perfectly clear…(no relation to Dick here…)

Updating to FCS the latest greatest, FCP 6.0.2 et al, on a Dual 2.7 G5 with 5.5 GB RAM, running OSX.4.11 and QT 7.3 and Kona 2 vrs. 4 drivers with a K-Box.

Is that making more sense now?

I’m in the middle of a feature, running FCP 6.0.1 — and the render bug is almost enough to make me jump in, but I was hoping there was someone out there with a similar rig as mine that is not in the middle of a project and has had time to give the new software a run for its money.

    You can always hope, right?

    Best, JIM.

Do you have a drive you can clone your boot disk to? Clone your disk, then run the updates.

Went to FCP 6.0.2 running under OSX.4.11 last night, and QT7.3. Worked on an existing project all day today and everything seems fine. Only worked in 525, 8 bit, but nothing out of the ordinary in FCP. The render bug was killing me. Hopefully it’s fixed.

I did have an issue with the Motion upgrade. My file browser/library/inspector window did a disappearing act. And you know what? Motion is usless without it. Trashed the prefs, and everything was normal again.

I’ve got Tiger in-house, but will wait until AJA comes out with appropriate drivers.

    Hi Scott:

Thanks for the reply. Just wanted to confirm — you were running with a Kona 2 and G5 config with the v 4 Kona driver, right? And you did the ‘upgrade’ from a 6.0.1 project to a 6.0.2 project?

I know I’m sounding a bit paranoid — but don’t want to shoot myself in the foot in the middle of this feature…

The short answer is to your question is “yes”. I upgraded from OSX.4.10. to OSX.4.11. And I am running Kona driver version 4.0. on an older G5 2.5ghz DP, not an intel machine. I upgraded using the software update feature. I saw a release notes somewhere that says to upgrade all the pro apps together. That includes QT 7.3. Except for having to trash the Motion preferences, everything is running fine.
