Picture is nice, ergonomics are not nice. Lens makes nice picture, but the servos are poor and laggy and feel like wet cabbage (as does the sony). Shoulder mounted, it tilts to the left – poor balance.

Main issues are can’t bring 30f or 24f into FCP, and can’t play them on any HDV deck, only the camera. So unless you shoot 60i, it’s pretty useless for FCP users.

Yeah, why would they do that? Why didn’t they just use progressive scan CCDs so one could get a true 24p or 30p like the XL2. I don’t get it. If I was in the market for an HD cam under 10 grand USD I’d be taking a hard look at either the new Panny or more likely the new JVC. Anything but 24F.

24f looks “ok” as long as you don’t botch the editing like Canon did for their demo video….. Main issue is total lack of compatibility.

    HI Graeme 🙂

Have you been able to take the family to the Rideau Canal yet for some quality skating? It probably hasn’t been cold enough. The skating was a family ritual when my wife was growing up in Ottawa. They used to live close to Vanier park and would get onto the canal from there.
