    Hi!

I need some tips. I’m working on this short film:
https://www.rabbefilm.no/color/color.jpg (one frame from the film)
which lasts 3-4 minutes. I’m editing in Avid Media Composer and want to do my CC in AE 6.5 Pro.

I’m not just looking for good pictures, but I want to make a certain mood. This film is about an old man reading books (religion) to figure out what to belive in before it’s too late. It ends with nothing but a magazine of Donal Duck & Co.

Andrew Kramer has some good color correction tools for AE that are really good at creatinge Moods – the presets are avaialble from videocopilot.net – It’s called Film Magic Pro:

It’s on Sale for $50, and I have to say I’ve used them a few times – pretty good stuff, with real control in AE if you want to alter them.

Ahron, this looks like it sort of does the same thing that Magic Bullet does? or is it more just color grading and not attempting to adjust your footage to the “film look” as much.

I looked at their examples but the inital shot barely looks like DV to start with 🙂

It is DV – I think – Andrew Kramer shot this for a commercial.

This doesn’t adjust frame rate or anything. It just gives different color settings to create certain moods and styles – like the greens of inside the matrix, or the blues of outside the matrix.

They do this sort of thing a lot in the movies and on tv.

Gotcha, thanks. and now that you mention it I think I’ve seen the spot if it’s the one I’m thinking of that was talked about on the podcast a while back.

Ya, it’s DV, shot with an XL2. using 30p (progressive). Taken in a shaded area with 1 reflector if remember correctly.
