    Step 1: gray photo paper or blank wall without any other light hitting it.
    Step 2: hit it with a partly diffused/unfocused spotlight at an angle.
    Step 3: profit.

    I do it with open-faced lights, myself. This particular look isn’t really rocket science.

    thanks for your answers, I just got idea what if I film in front of grey background and do vignettes in the post.

    Generally a bad idea unless you’re going to key things.

    Look at the framing. Any vignette applied to the entire frame will shadow the head of the subject as well as the background.

    Vignetting is one of those things that we were always trained in school to avoid as an unwanted artifact, a mistake. Now it is a cliche’ effect added to just about everything, and always in excess.

    Shoot on green and composite any background you like. You have complete control of the look.
