I called Avid and I was kinda dumbfounded at how many people did NOT know the answer to this question(ie. no one). I even asked them if it was in their current codec download and they were CLUELESS. “Umm…I’m googling it and I can’t find anything”. They seemed relieved when I said I’d look elsewhere. Can anyone here shed some light on where this codec might exist? The folks at Avid are still googling it.

I only found one reference to it in the Avid forums, and it was in the Symphony forum. Perhaps it’s available with that system only? It should be on the Avid Symphony install disk, if it is. I’ll try to check our Xpress Pro, Xpress Meridien, and Media Composer install disks to see if we have it somehow–if we do I’ll email it to you.

The codec exist in the ADrenaline and Symphony installers. However, this codec is not for distribution. because of licensing issue. Check the EULA. It is the Avid Codec PE (LE is the normal distributable version).

    Thanks for the heads up!

To the original poster–we have them on our Adrenaline disks, but I can’t email it to you. Licensing restrictions. The only thing I can think to do from here is call Avid back, explain why you need them, and ask if you can license it from them.

    Good luck!

    Hey dude..

Thanks for your help. It’s appreciated. Crazy that I need to come to the Cow for some answers huh? Well..that’s why you’ve got your job and the guys on the phone have theirs. Ouch!

I think we are overdue for an upgrade to our Adrenaline. Time to start digging for license #’s.

No problem. Sorry I couldn’t help more!

What version of Adrenaline are you guys on? We’re running 2.6.3 here and it’s been nice. Lots of huge improvements over 1.x versions (what I started editing on).

Good luck on the upgrades. If you have more questions that Avid can’t answer, try here again! 🙂
