Anyone know How to Morph an object in Z space?

You could do some or all of this in Freeform. It’s not going to be as effective as using a 3D application, as Dave suggested, but it may be enough for your purposes.

Todd suggestion is what I would recommend as well. Free Form can do 3d displacement based on displacement maps.

However if you want more control and better 3d displacement, and if you have the budget you may want to check FreeForm Pro.

Awesome, that is exactly what I am looking for!
I was afraid I was going to have to do a full 3D movie.
Unfortunately, I have not made the upgrade from CS4 to CS5 yet and the Free Form plugin is far out my price range ($300, at that price I could just pay for the CS5 upgrade)
