Where the clips scroll across the screen – I think I have a basic idea but it would require a bunch of re-rendering and panning and zooming.

Just wondering if anyone knew a way that might be simpler or better-looking than mine.

    Thanks!

I didn’t see the effect you’re talking about but, as a New Yorker I wasn’t about to sit around for 4:19 watching a video about Boston 😉

Sorry about that, didn’t know CreativeCow converted links to embed, which seemed to strip the embedded timecode. And yeah, the videos not for everyone – just a dumb little comedy video from a gaming channel I kind of like – but the effect occurs at about 3:22 in the video, where a bunch of clips from films scrolls by.

This is how I would go about it:
    1. Drop the first clip on the timeline (V1) and scale it.
    2. Create the desired path using keyframes.
    3. Copy its attributes.
    4. Drop the second clip on the timeline (V2).
    5. Stagger it.
    6. Paste the first clip’s attributes.
Rinse and repeat (steps 4 to 6) as you see fit.

Filmimpact.net makes a transition effect called Impact Push that I use a lot. Drop it between two clips, select the direction and amount of motion blur, set the duration and off you go.
