Anyone know how this colour editing effect can be achieved?

They are 2 different techniques.

One looks like the “invert” effect added to footage.

The other is a transfer mode on a layer probably. Duplicate your footage on top of itself and on the top layer start going through the different transfer modes like difference, color etc.

Also you can change the hue and colors of your top layer and mess with the transfer modes as well.

I agree that the first probably started with the Invert effect.

For the second, I’d start with the Colorama effect.

That second effect could probably also be accomplished with the Tritone effect, which maps colors to the brights, mids, and darks:

As Todd said above Colorama will do it as well, with more levels of control.
