What you REALLY need is a camera. In this line of work, it’s highly recomended.

for very low cost. But he could also buy a card like the Aurora Fuse-X card
for $499 that has s video in/out too, or many other choices. -

September 26, 2006 at 11:32 pmi found an analog to digital converter for like 50 bucks online. won’t that work? it takes firewire in and puts out composite and/or s video.
it’s just for previewing animations that i make to see if they have any interlacing problems or flickering on playback.
i have a preview monitor sitting in my closet collecting dust until i can hook it to my computer.

Mind telling us the name/model?
But the likelyhood the output picture looks like the used DV camera option
