Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy anyone know a inexpensive way to hook up a tv monitor to my computer? without buying a new video card?

    I mean this with the utmost respect…
    What you REALLY need is a camera. In this line of work, it’s highly recomended.

    Well yeah Kevin, I was just trying to help him get decent video on a monitor
    for very low cost. But he could also buy a card like the Aurora Fuse-X card
    for $499 that has s video in/out too, or many other choices.

    i found an analog to digital converter for like 50 bucks online. won’t that work? it takes firewire in and puts out composite and/or s video.

    it’s just for previewing animations that i make to see if they have any interlacing problems or flickering on playback.

    i have a preview monitor sitting in my closet collecting dust until i can hook it to my computer.

    The new $250 HDMI out card from Blackmagic might fit the bill for HD monitoring on a tube HDTV.

    That converter you are talking about for $50 is probably fine.
    Mind telling us the name/model?
    But the likelyhood the output picture looks like the used DV camera option
    I mentioned is pretty good.
