  • Anyone Having Issues with Background Process Not Shutting Down?

I notice that when I load Photoshop, Premiere or After Effects (and then close the programs), acrotray and Adobe Crash Process hangs in the background and does not close automatically.

This locks up folders I was working with on the desktop, so if I try to delete or move them, it says they’re still in use (and I have to manually close acrotray in the task manager).

How can I stop this behavior so all Adobe background processes release when the initial app is closed?

Ohh I remember this somewhat happening to me before as well when my Photoshop or Vegas Pro hangs and you cannot close it by normal means. I usually would need to go to Task Manager and click End Task to the programs that are hanging along with their processes that can be found below. Try doing that and see if you are able to close them all. Sometimes it may take time before you can make changes or delete the files that were in use in that project file. It can get frusturating but should not last forever. Hope it helps!

Thanks. But using the task manager is actually what I’m already doing (and it gets to be a real pain). Is there a way to ensure these processes are released/shutdown after program close?

From my experience, sometimes I had issues when I closed the program, for some reason, the processes are still open as well and I would have to check if Photoshop and Premiere Pro processes are still open cause if so, it may still contain the error. Have you tried restarting your computer as well and seeing if that process still hangs. Usually the processes would not be opened. Let me know how it goes and if you can screenshot what you find too, I can help better.
