Just got an email from “Apple Software Research” with a survey about Final Cut Studio. Which of the programs, for what and how often. When I indicated that I wasn’t particularly happy with Color it let me give an in depth answer as to what worked and didn’t work.
Nice to know they are still interested in what we think about Final Cut Studio.
Also very interesting, that about five minutes later I got another email from Apple promoting their “Set to Screen Series”, about how a filmaker uses Apple Pro Products.
I recently heard someone speculate how maybe Final Cut Server was dominating their resources and hoping that now that it was out they might return their interest to Final Cut Studio.
Well from the looks of it, that’s what’s happening.

I doubt they want to hear any more from me. I think I post to the Apple Feature Request every week or so. Half the time a rant about things STILL not working like they should.

SO they are tired of hearing from me.

You and me both. Everytime I get contact from the Apple Team, it’s generally to tell me to shut up. 🙂

I got an invitation to meet with some people at Apple. They flew me in and put me up at a fairly nice motel nearby the Cupertino campus.

To my surprise Steve Jobs was there and he listened intently to what I had to say and my concerns. He took copious notes during the two-hour meeting, and stopped me several times to have me explain some of the more technical details of the issues I was experiencing.

Oh. Wait a minute. That was just a dream I had.

    Nevermind.

This “survey” could also portend something quite the opposite. Discreet (Autodesk) used this same questionnaire format to gauge user opinion right before it EOL’d edit*, and right before the final whimper of an upgrade to Combustion 2008 (I’m sure Cs final release). They added a single high end tool from the Smoke/inferno line (Color Warper) and that was all she wrote. It really will be interesting to see what this new economy ends up killing (and birthing) indeed. Promax going under isn’t a good sign, and I’m afraid is a good barometer of what is to come.

Not that I am a dooms day type of guy, but I thought the same thing myself for a half second. Funny you mention that.
